year 1984 was the Oscars Award Night but Return of the Jedi didn't receive any.

Return of the Jedi was nominated for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Best Effects, Sound Effects Editing, Best Music - Original Score and Best Sound. But it did win Special Achievement Award for visual effects.
